Rio 2016: Team GB wins two gold awards in Olympic paddling
It was a one-two punch for Team GB in Rio on Friday evening, as they brought home two paddling gold decorations inside minutes. The triumphs take Great Britain's aggregate golds to 17, which means they climb to fourth in the table.
Helen Glover and Heather Stanning raged ahead amid the Women's Pair race, beating New Zealand by a reasonable 1.2 seconds with an aggregate time of 7:18:29s. The pair's triumphant streak now extends back 39 races - and they obviously felt the weight.
Talking after the race, Helen said: "The weight was gigantic. London was a home diversions and there was nothing more exceptional except for this is a guarding title – it implies to such an extent."
The Men's Four took after soon after, with Mohammed Sbihi, George Nash, Constantine Louloudis and Alex Gregory taking gold on a period of 58:61s. Australia came in second, 1:83s behind Team GB, and Italy took the Bronze award.
